Two days left to back BANDIGOAT! THE SEEKERS is available for pre-order!
We're crowdfunding for Bandigoat: A Collection of Strange & Horrible Tales, an anthology of 7 horror/weird fiction stories by 7 Indian writers: Kuzhali Manickavel, Rashmi Ruth Devadasan, M. L. Krishnan, Jugal Mody, Lungmying Lepcha, Miriam Kumaradoss-Hohauser, and Srividya Tadepalli. The stories are set in the mountains of Sikkim, in the salt sloughs of the Tamil Nadu coast, and in a strange future Delhi where it never stops snowing and people spend their time getting drunk in igloos.
We just hit our target! There are two days left to chip in! $5 ebooks and $6 print copies! There are t-shirts too, and other higher-tier rewards including a manuscript review and a custom nonsense reel! The book will be out next month!
We've also put The Seekers by Gautamiputra Kamble up for pre-order. This book was funded as a stretch goal in our Anti-Caste Speculative Fiction campaign. It's a unique work that's very hard to categorise: it draws on Navayana Buddhism and Phule-Ambedkarite philosophy, as well as fantasy and history and folklore. It's also the first translation from Marathi we've published, and we're thrilled to bring it to English readers.
The Seekers, too, will be out in October.
(We're still working on the other translation that was funded as a stretch goal, from Malayalam--it's run into some delays, but hopefully it won't be tooo much longer.)
We had a great time this weekend at Kannadi Cupboard in Tambaram! If you're in Chennai you should totally stop by sometime, it's a very cool space run by very cool people. Thanks to everyone who came out, and also to those who stopped by our table at Aley Literature Fest at the Manipal campus in Bengaluru.
That's the news!
